Priority Health partners with Virta Health to offer diabetes remission, weight loss solutions

Partnership aims to provide sustainable, personalized solutions for members

(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — May 27, 2025) Priority Health, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan serving more than 1.3 million members, and Virta Health, a leader in addressing chronic metabolic conditions, have partnered to offer three new solutions to address the growing demand for weight management options and diabetes support among employers and employees.

The solutions for Priority Health members include nutrition-first programs and comprehensive, multi-specialty clinical support to help members lose weight sustainably with or without GLP-1s and achieve type 2 diabetes remission by managing blood sugar while reducing medications. Virta Health’s providers offer personalized nutrition plans, behavioral support and ongoing medication supervision for members, supporting members by treating chronic metabolic conditions at their root cause.

"We are deeply committed to the well-being and empowerment of our members, and our partnership with Virta Health reflects that dedication," said Alicia Coronas, vice president of employer solutions product and marketing at Priority Health. "These creative and effective solutions are designed to support our members compassionately during their health journeys by offering personalized care and comprehensive support.”

Employers can choose a solution based on their needs and budget. Virta’s Sustainable Weight Loss program aims to help members lose weight sustainably through nutrition therapy, and employers can choose Sustainable Weight Loss With Responsible Prescribing, which adds on-label GLP-1 support to the formulary when the medication is prescribed by a Virta Health physician, who will work with the member to prioritize nutrition and lifestyle changes. Diabetes Reversal,* focuses on helping a member achieve type 2 diabetes remission through nutrition therapy. Virta considers each member’s medical history, personal goals and risk factors to create a personalized plan.

“Our expansion in Michigan marks a crucial step in addressing one of the most pressing health care challenges employers faces today – improving metabolic health in a way that is both sustainable and cost-effective,” said Dr. Adam Wolfberg, MD, MPH and chief medical officer at Virta Health. “By bringing our proven solutions to Priority Health members, we have the opportunity to not only transform individual lives but also tackle a top employer priority for the years ahead.”

All solutions are available to self-funded employers; Sustainable Weight Loss and Responsible Prescribing programs are available to fully funded groups.
