(GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — March 25, 2025) Praveen Thadani, president/CEO of Priority Health, a nationally recognized nonprofit health plan serving more than 1.3 million members, has been named to Becker’s Hospital Review’s 2025 “Great Leaders in Healthcare” list.
The list highlights leaders who are driving innovation, fostering inclusivity and expanding access to care. The executives featured are steering their institutions through the evolving health care landscape.
Thadani, who leads Michigan’s second-largest health plan with a focus on affordability, accessibility and health equity, established its first population health and health equity department, spearheading innovative programs like “PriorityMOM”, which has reduced emergency department visits for mothers with pre- or post-delivery complications, and a free mental health support app for members.
Through strategic partnerships, he has leveraged digital solutions and data analytics to address social determinants of health, including collaborations with vendor, Socially Determined, to create personal risk profiles for Medicaid members, and with vendor, SameSky Health, to collect social needs data. Thadani has also overseen the implementation of the Epic payer platform clinical document exchange, streamlining provider collaboration and improving patient care.
To further support community well-being, Priority Health has implemented projects like outdoor Priority Health Fitness Courts® in neighborhoods across Michigan, offering free access to exercise. In addition, the Priority Health Total Health Foundation has awarded more than $14 million in grants to organizations tackling food insecurity, housing shortages and economic stability.
